The Commission is seeking to understand and solve the challenges facing the Nation’s current Position, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) system. NTIA submits the attached “Inventory of Complementary, Alternative, and Augmentative PNT Solutions” to aid this important work.
NTIA Comments on Submarine Cable Landing License NPRM
NTIA supports improving submarine cable security, but cautions the Commission to avoid duplicative licensing requirements that applicants or licensees already comply with via agreements with the Committee for the Assessment of Foreign Participation in the United States Telecommunications Services Sector.
18 GHz Band Report
As directed by the 2023 National Spectrum Strategy (NSS), the frequency band 18.1-18.6 GHz (the “18 GHz band”) was identified for study for expanded federal and non-federal satellite operations, consistent with the United States position at the International Telecommunication Union’s (ITU’s) 2023 World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-23). WRC-23 concluded on December 23, 2023, adding co-primary space-to-space allocations for the intersatellite service (ISS) in this band.
Recruitment of First Responder Network Authority Board Members
NTIA issues this Notice to initiate the annual process of seeking expressions of interest from individuals who would like to serve on the Board of the First Responder Network Authority. The term for one of the twelve non-permanent members of the FirstNet Authority Board will be available for appointment or reappointment in 2025.

NTIA is extending the deadline for applications for the third Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) from the Public Wireless Supply Chain Innovation Fund.
This extension will allow applicants more time to formulate effective partnerships and prepare quality submissions. Award applications are now due by April 16, 2025.
